State of Art Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Transit Platforms

Armor-Deck®’s fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) products enhance safety and durability throughout multi-modal transit stations and transit platforms. Our FRP panels are composed of a structural reinforced polymer composite, formed into a pre-cast panel incorporating a monolithic Diamond-Tek granite wearing surface. Manufactured by the same makers of Armor-Tile®, Armor-Deck® provides composite transit platforms that out preform traditional materials on every level.

Armor-Deck®’s ultra lightweight FRP panels are up to 85% lighter than traditional materials, such as concrete and boast a factory installed “Diamond Hard” vitrified polymer composite. The advantages of composite materials in transit applications include no maintenance and the elimination of replacement costs. Additionally, each FRP panel is UV-stable and comes with a 25-year structural and corrosion resistant warranty.

Armor-Deck's Elevated Transit

Innovative Composite Transit Platforms

On the forefront of design and innovation, Armor-Deck® manufactures industry-leading FRP panels to be used in a wide variety of transit applications. Each of our composite panels has undergone extensive testing to increase durability and create safer and more accessible multi-modal transit stations.

The specialized, high-density and non-porous material used in Armor-Deck®’s FRP composite panels offer the natural wear resistance of granite and is corrosion resistant, impervious to salt and other ice melting chemicals. The material of our FRP composite transit platforms protects against the negative effects of freeze/thaw cycles and eases maintenance. Armor-Deck® has incorporated a system of fully code compliant detectable warning tiles on our FRP panels to enhance the safety and accessibility for all persons.

Armor-Deck®’s broad range of FRP products provides a solution for every transit station. Nexatherm® Ice and Snow Melting Systems can be installed within our composite transit platforms for outdoor stations exposed to harsh winter climates. Both our at-grade and elevated composite transit platforms are equipped with  truncated domes to alert persons of all abilities of the edge of the platform. Among the advantages of composite materials is the ability to easily create aesthetically pleasing composite stairs and composite bridges in areas where the use of traditional materials is not possible or practical. With Armor-Deck® fixed and portable ramps, passengers can safely move from platform to train and even cart to cart.
